About

I trained in Community Theatre Arts at Rose Bruford College and hold an MPhil in Playwriting from the University of Birmingham.

I began my career as an actor while also writing musicals and performing in an alternative cabaret group. Over time, I moved from acting in plays to writing them. My work is driven by a passion for storytelling and a commitment to making theatre accessible and meaningful to diverse audiences.

As a playwright and screenwriter, I’ve been:

  • Winner of the 2024 Page Turner Screenplay Award for TV Drama
  • Nominated for the John Whiting Award
  • Shortlisted for the Terence Rattigan Award and BBC Drama Room
  • Longlisted for the Bruntwood and Papatango Prizes
  • Joint winner of the Capital New Writing Festival
  • Finalist for Best Writing at the World Radio Oscars
  • Semi-finalist for Shore Scripts Screenplay Awards and Finish Line TV Script Competition

As a composer, I’ve written songs and scores for over 30 productions. Credits include:

  • Her Day – Coventry City of Culture (2022)
  • Maggie May – Liverpool Royal Court (2018)
  • Ostrich Boys – Birmingham Rep (original production)
  • Dinosaur Dreams – Unicorn Theatre (Writers’ Guild Award nomination for Best Play for Young People)

I’ve been shortlisted for the Cameron Mackintosh Resident Composer Scheme and received a merit in the Unisong International Song Contest.

In 2017, I joined the Mosaic Opera Collective, formed under the auspices of the Royal Opera House. In 2018, we had a residency at Grimeborn, where a short excerpt from my opera-in-development, Red Seed, was performed by international soprano Jessie Tse.

I’m a member of BOLDtext Playwrights, a collective of West Midlands playwrights whose work has been staged in venues such as The Door at Birmingham REP and various site-specific locations.

In 2022, I was writer-on-attachment to the Royal Shakespeare Company.

I’m a member of the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain and British Equity.
